Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Edel! (Happy Birthday, Edel!)
I just had such a great day at Germany. Today is my birthday. I just turned 8! And I got so much cool presents from my mommy. My family snuck presents and balloons in the suitcases so I wouldn't know. It was such a good surprise. And funny!
(Then I dyed my hair blonde for something new. Just kidding! It's a present from Abhishek.)
(And here I got to be goofy with Abhishek for a while.)
(And this is my Opa John Voss, on his 8th birthday. He is at his mom and dad's house in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin here, but when he was a kid he also moved to Germany and went to a German school.)

In Germany I had another cake today. A professor my mom works with brought me a German torte from his favorite bakery. It was really nice and I'm still glad I got to have a cake today, but it was kind of horrible tasting because they put cherry alcohol in the frosting. Here are photos of it though. It looked pretty.

(Another toy / craft, and my cat Dinah helping.)
Now, we're going for our nightly walk in a magical meadow area near our apartment. My mom and I found a bunch of old trees in a big group, and dark tunnel at the end of a path that leads into the trees. We think Hansel's and Gretel's candy house is down in it, and want to go look. But my sister says there's a regular house in there and that we can't go trespass. Abhishek thinks we shouldn't either. But my mom and I might sneak anyway! If we do, I'll post a photo of what we find.

(Naya and I out on a walk the other evening.)
